Summary
Welcome to The Olsen Way
In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.
There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity.
But this is not for us
We believe there is another way to cruise. A way that is based on five generations of seafaring.
Where cabins are called cabins and ships look like ships.
Where the journey is as important as the destination.
In our world, smaller is better, and we believe in keeping the experience on board uncrowded, warm and civilised - treating passengers as guests, like the family run business we are.
It would be easy to follow the trends and go with the crowds. But we never will.
Because this is our way. The Olsen Way
It’s an exciting time to be joining the cruise industry with our beautiful fleet back into service and sailing around the world with our guests. We are now strengthening our Reservations team in our Ipswich Head Offices with a Trainee Cruise Consultant.
You will provide high levels of service and uphold the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines brand, effectively dealing with customer reservations and enquiries. The successful candidate must also build and maintain their own knowledge library on rates, prices and Terms of Business, whilst effectively promoting and upselling relevant products to customers.
As the successful candidate, you will be personable with excellent communication skills and a polite telephone manner. You will be highly customer focused and able to meet the company and the roles expectations around delivering exceptional service and achieving best results. Previous experience within the travel industry is not essential, we are keen to hear from candidates from any customer service or sales background.
As part of the role, you will be fortunate enough to visit our ships three times per year, as well as travel on one once per year. Monthly commission is also available in addition to the basic salary.
We are passionate about our employees and strive for success across all areas of the business. Training and development is important to us, therefore as the successful candidate you will commence as a Trainee Cruise Consultant and receive an initial 4 weeks of training. During this time you will work closely with our Training and Development team who will provide full product training covering the systems we use and the Fred Olsen products to help you have all the knowledge you need to achieve your best.
This position will be based at our Head Office in Ipswich (Fred Olsen House, 42 White House Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 5LL). This is a full time role, working 35 hours a week Monday to Friday and every other Saturday 9-5. A day off in the week will be rewarded when a Saturday is worked. You must also be available once a month on a Sunday 10-4, when you can voluntarily select the date you work at double time.
