The Role

We are seeking Casual Support Workers to join our Youth Justice Service, Junction 21, on an ad-hoc basis. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support young people who are at risk of offending or engaging in anti-social behaviour, including children in care or under child protection. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people while working flexibly, including evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide advocacy support to young people in care or subject to child protection plans.
Supporting the mentoring service and its delivery to children at risk of offending.
Completing return home from missing interviews for children in care
Supporting children on the Vanguard Pathway to access their communities, health and activities.
Work closely with the Youth Justice Service team to assess the needs of young people and deliver tailored support.
Liaise with parents, carers, and various agencies (e.g., police, social workers, health services) to ensure coordinated support.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting and working with young people from a variety of back grounds, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent).
6 months’ experience working directly with young people with challenging or anti-social behaviour.
Proven communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
Professional background of working with young people at risk/vulnerable.
Experience of giving children a voice through advocacy or other support.
The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel across the region.

Desirable Criteria:

Degree level qualification or equivalent.
Understanding of the youth justice system
Experience of working with care experienced children
