Based in Medway as a Dementia Centre Minibus Driver, you will be transporting our Dementia clients between their homes and the Dementia Centre, not just offering and supporting a service but your valued company.

In this role, you will support the Dementia Day Centre by driving the minibus and operating its equipment safely and efficiently.

You will be responsible for transporting our elderly clients with dementia to and from their homes whilst paying attention to the Highway Code, our Transport Policy and to Health and Safety in general at all times. To contribute to and assist the organisation in meeting its strategic objectives in supporting older people living with dementia through the development of a range of supportive services for older people and their carers who are living with memory concerns and dementia type illness.

Job Type: 2 x Permanent, Part Time: 20 hours per week - 08:30 - 10:30 and 14:30 - 16:30, Monday to Friday

Hourly rate: £11.44

Location: Gillingham, Medway

Required:
To hold a full Category D1 driving licence
Good communication skills.
To be able to work as part of a team, but also able to use own initiative.
Must be prepared to undertake a DBS check.
A flexible approach, with a willingness to provide cover for colleagues at short notice.

Key Responsibilities:
To adhere to pick-up list and routes.
Ensure that passengers are sitting comfortably and have their seat belts on. It is essential that an escort is provided to help with this.
Ensure that mini-bus attendance and mileage records are completed at the end of journey and passed to appropriate staff.
Ensure that all pre-journey checks are undertaken and recorded.
Pass any relevant information, such as no reply or concerns about service users to senior staff.
Use the appropriate equipment as provided and use in accordance with instructions.
Show respect and consideration to passengers and volunteers.
Keep vehicle maintained and cleaned inside and out.
Maintain vehicle logs and report accidents or defects verbally and in writing.
Ensure vehicle is secure when parked for the night.
Undertake MIDAS and any other training as deemed necessary.
