Crynodeb
Westmorland and Furness Trading Standards are seeking to recruit an agency Trading Standards Officer.
Duties:
The role of the placement is to provide additional resources to the Service in delivering the Food Standards and Weights and Measures inspection programmes, including:
Conducting risked based programmed and reactive inspections, sampling, testing, and assessing of products from local businesses to ensure compliance with consumer legislation.
Investigating consumer complaints.
Advising businesses & traders of their legal obligations relating to criminal trading standards legislation.
Qualifications & Education:
The candidate must hold the statutory professional qualification including Food Standards and Weights and Measures.
The candidate must be able to provide on request, a copy of their competency framework and current and appropriate CPD.
Experience & Knowledge:
3 years minimum post qualification experience of an enforcement role within Trading Standards
Skills:
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to a wide range of audiences, including ability to present the council's policies both informally and formally.
IT literate, capable of using MS Word/Excel and office packages. Experience of Civica APP is desirable.
Flexible approach to working time arrangements to work outside normal office hours as required.
Personal Attributes
Ability to work both successfully as part of a team and individually with minimum supervision to agreed protocols.
Special Requirements
Capacity for independent travel to fulfil the requirements of the post.
