Location: Hybrid role working from home and 1 day a month in the Lincolnshire Office

Serco has fantastic opportunity to work for Lincolnshire county council in there Systems Integration Team, currently part of Serco UK and Europe Citizen Services mainly working on public sector contracts within the Local Government Partnership.

You will be a mid to senior-level integration developer with experience in the design, development and operational support of key BizTalk solutions and business process automation which underpins a wide range of internal business and public sector facing services.

Main duties


- To design and develop a wide range of complex business integration solutions.
- To provide technical support for incidents and system change requests, for all integration applications, including technical investigation, analysis and resolution or escalation to 3rd party ICT suppliers and partners.
- Understand the full lifecycle of software development, be able to communicate effectively with customers and understand system requirements and behaviours.
- Be able to adhere to internal and industry standards and best practice in software development.
- Act as role model and be prepared to share skills and knowledge with colleagues and suggest improvements to development processes and procedures to promote continual improvement within the team.
- Make use of testware (test cases, test scripts, test reports, test plans, test tools etc) to measure and improve the quality of the software being developed.
- Interact and influence department/project team members. May have working level contact with customers and suppliers. In predictable and structured areas may supervise others. Makes decisions which may impact on the work assigned to individuals or phases of projects.
- Maintain an awareness of new relevant and emerging integration technologies, products, services, methods and techniques and help assess their relevance and potential value to the business and our customers.
- Assist the team is accurately estimating effort to deliver work.


What I need to do the role?


Development

- Proven expertise (3 year +) in designing, developing and providing operational support for BizTalk integrations (ideally versions 2016 or 2020)


- Microsoft Visual Studio, and the development of .NET solutions


- Programming with the .NET Framework and C#


- Extensible Markup Language (XML)


- Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT)


- XML Schema Definition Language (XSD)


- SOAP Web Service use and development


- REST Services, JSON, Swagger


- Development of Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procs and scripts


- Understand the principles of Behaviour Driven Design (BDD)


- Experience with unit test tools


- Experience with automated end to end test tools such as SpecFlow


- Familiar with Azure DevOps for source control repos, pipelines, boards for managing projects


- Experience with the BizTalk Deployment Framework.


- Must know how to manage server applications in a Windows Server environment, and understand how to create and manage Web sites and virtual directories.


- Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI)


- Any experience with integration to Azure Logic apps and SB queues is advantageous


Infrastructure

- An understanding of reliability, availability, security, performance, compatibility, networking, and hardware and software management concepts.


- Experience with Windows Server


- Experience with Azure (provisioning and maintaining VMs for development, testing, continuous integration, PowerShell, networking, use of management portal)


- Manage user and group accounts in Windows domains


- Understanding of networking and connectivity protocols


- Implement network and file security in a Windows network environment


- Understanding of SQL Server clustering and load balancing technologies


Administration and operational support

- Familiar with operational monitoring tools such as SCOM and BizTalk360


- Performance monitoring and optimization techniques


- Health checks


- Back and restore concepts and techniques


- Internet Information Services (IIS)
