Experienced construction biased Accountant required to join a regional Southeast contractor to head up the Accounts department, based in their office in West Sussex with the opportunity to work with flexibility and hybrid. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the lead within an Accounts department and utilise previous experience to excel the business as they grow.

Reporting into the Managing Director and working closely with the wider business including Contracts Managers and the Commercial team.

The Accountant role will involve management of financial records, preparing reports and ensuring processes and documents are in line with regulations. Overseeing payroll, monitoring bank reconciliation, purchase ad sales ledger, credit control, VAT returns and month & year end.

AS Accountant you will manage the accounts, systems and processes throughout the finance division, ultimately holding responsibility for ensuing as minimal risk as possible.

This Accountant position is with a busy regional contractor, based in the south coast who holds over 50 years of experience in the construction industry specialising in new build residential, heritage projects, commercial and insurance works across the south coast.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Accountant who has previous experience working within the construction industry (necessity) with a proven track record of working for a similar sized contractor and previous experience using SAGE 50, payroll experience and CIS modules. Key attributes will include excellent attention to detail, construction knowledge and strong verbal & written communication skills.

High standards and attention to detail and drive will be very well rewarded with excellent salary ranging between £45,000 - £60,000 (DOE), bonus scheme, competitive pension, 26 days holiday, flexitime and hybrid working.
