In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for a permanent non-resident consultant post in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology team at Scarborough Hospital.

The post holder will join a team consisting of 27 consultants, based across York & Scarborough, in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology service, which is provided to a population of approximately 800,000.

The posts will include non resident consultant out of hours duties covering obstetrics & acute gynaecology.

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology service in Scarborough are going through an exciting period of change and challenges, and are looking to recruit a new consultant to join our experienced and supportive team. This permanent replacement post following previous retirement will join an expanding team based at Scarborough Hospital and will support the Obstetrics & Gynaecology services across the Trust.

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology department also has close links with Hull and York Medical School (HYMS). This role would desire candidates with an interest in undergraduate education.

The holder of the post will undertake general Obstetrics & Gynaecology roles with opportunities to develop individual specialist skills area to complement those available in the department, cross site.

Specialist interest skill in Maternal Medicine, especially experience of care of pregnant diabetic women is desirable. Other interest areas are welcome too. Completion of relevant ATSM would be desirable.

All posts will have a commitment to the education of junior staff & medical students & will take an active part in clinical governance.



The day time job plan timetable will be dependent on the successful candidates skill areas, supporting our services across both sites.

The post is required to undertake general Obstetrics and Gynaecology role involving covering acute maternity sessions, caesarean section lists, antenatal clinics, gynaecology outpatients, gynaecology operating lists and emergency gynaecology with opportunities to develop in specialist skills area depending on individual successful applicant interest.
