We've got a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Chef to join our Catering team at One Ashford Hospital. We're looking for an enthusiastic experienced Chef who is passionate about their role and shares our high standards.
Reporting to the Head Chef, you will work flexibly alongside the catering team. As a Chef, you will assist with the provision of an outstanding catering service to patients, visitors, and staff within our private hospital.
You should be familiar with food safety regulations, follow HACCP guidelines and have knowledge of food allergies and specific dietary requirements.
HOURS: 37.5 per week over 4 shifts.
SHIFTS: Kitchen opening times 07:00 - 19:00 Monday to Sunday. You will work 2x 12hr and 2x 8hr shifts per week on a rota basis, including alternate weekends. No split shift working is required.

CHEF
ROLE EXPECTATIONS:
o Assist in preparation of menus for the ward, staff restaurant and functions
o Order stock appropriate to menu and business activity from approved suppliers
o Check deliveries match the order and report any shortages
o Ensure food is ready at required times and served to the appropriate standard
o Ensure HACCP regulations are followed and all paperwork is correctly completed, including cooking temperatures, fridge temperatures and cleaning rotas.
o Ensure Catering and Kitchen Management Policy is adhered to when preparing and serving food
o Take responsibility and aim to solve any issues that arise whilst on duty
o Undertake stock rotation, labelling including allergy awareness
o Ensure food is served as fresh as possible and not prepared too far in advance
o Check that all the patient food trays are all correctly laid up by the hostess and ensure that only two trays are sent out at any time.
o Assist with the reviews of risk assessments/COSHH/and report any Health and Safety matters
o Communicate with the ward hosts/nurses and ensure all allergy and dietary requirements are met and satisfied for patients and staff
o You will ensure that excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene are both achieved and maintained at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o City and Guilds 706-1/2 or NVQ equivalent
o Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
o HACCP and Food Allergy training desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
o Experience in a similar role preferably in a healthcare setting
o Familiar with best practise, HACCP and Health and Safety.
o You will need high attention to detail with the ability to follow instruction working with minimal supervision on occasions..
o Knowledge and understanding of COSHH regulations
o Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and confident to work alone using initiative when required.
SKILLS:
o Flexibility to respond to the needs of the department
o Excellent customer care skills
o Enthusiastic, passionate, and a good team player with a collaborative approach to achieving goals
o Excellent interpersonal skills
o Patient orientated with a focus on continuous service improvement
