This is an exciting time for Calderdale’s district nursing teams as we have established 5 community hubs each with its own unique and diverse needs.
We are seeking enthusiastic staff with excellent communication skills who are highly motivated and adaptable in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
Community nursing is an exciting and rewarding challenge and you will be supported by an expert team where training and development opportunities are actively encouraged in order to meet the clinical needs of the role. Support and development will be individualised depending on your current skills and experience.
Due to the nature of the work it is essential you have the means to travel to a number of destinations within work hours.
We have a post for a part time community phlebotomist in Calderdale, the working hours will be 8am – 12pm Monday – Friday.
We would welcome any informal visit to see our hubs in action and meet the teams.

An awareness of public user involvement in the service we provide.
Carrying equipment, lifting, bending and standing for long periods.
Walking long distances throughout the hospital, at clinics, GP surgeries and during domiciliary visits
Preparing work areas
Explaining to patients a number of procedures.
Using persuasive skills and reassurance in dealing with those who are needle phobic.
Assisting patients to dress and undress if necessary
Collecting blood samples into appropriate containers.
Recording details of blood samples taken and, where appropriate, obtaining and recording medical information from patients.
Collecting blood samples from patients with varying disabilities, behavioural problems, patients who faint/vomit and dealing with distressed patients in a sensitive manner.
Having an awareness of the need to report any concerns regarding a patient’s condition and/or safeguarding.
Assisting team leader and supervisor.
Supporting new and less experienced colleagues with training.
Inter-departmental liaison.

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.
We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.
We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.
We continue to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation. Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS – yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards. Boards listen to their Council of Governors and respond to the needs of their members – patients, staff and the local community.
Foundation trusts provide what the health service wants, yet are also free to invest quickly in the changes to the local community needs, in striving to be the best, and in putting their patients first.
Clinical Duties
Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
Adhere to Trust Aseptic Non Touch Technique Policy (ANTT).
Work unsupervised undertaking domiciliary visits. A full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential along with business insurance.
Undertake surveys/audits when requested to do so.
Attend to staff and patients queries, referring appropriately.
Comply with all Health and Safety Regulations
Use of a visual display unit to book appointments and access the Trust intranet and work related e-mails.
It will be necessary to cover other staff when required.
Any duties as defined by the manager/Team leader in charge.
Professional Duties
The candidate must comply with all aspects of mandatory training and have an awareness of all policies and procedure relating to the Trust and division

There are no managerial duties required in this post.
