We have an opportunity for a Revenues and Benefits Information Officer to work in our Revenues and Benefits team on a fixed term contract for twelve months.
The main duties of the role include dealing with enquiries by telephone personal calls and correspondence giving where possible a “there and then service”
Maintain Council Tax, Business Rate accounts including the collation of data for Council Tax Reduction and Housing Benefits.
Liaise with other officers within the Local Authority regarding routine problems/enquiries.
Assist customers with instalment arrangements and queries regarding their debts including setting up and maintaining Direct Debits and providing personal budgeting support to customers. Referring vulnerable customers to the Residents Financial Support links on Mid Devon’s Webpage. Report difficult or contentious issues to the Revenues and Benefits Team Leader’s.
A high level of customer contact is involved in all elements of this post including written, telephone and face to face communication
You will be used to working under pressure, as well as numerate, you will need to interrogate a variety of software systems which requires an eye for detail and accuracy.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a team and on their own initiative. The Revenues Section works within the General Data Protection Act 2018 so the applicant must carry out their duties with complete confidentiality.
