The Service

Part of Adult Social Care the Carers Service provides support to carers who look after someone in an unpaid capacity where that person could not cope without the support. We provide support in a way that they chose whether that is helping them get a break, information and advice, emotional support, emergency planning etc.

Your New Role

Based at the Carers Centre in Southsea this role will provide administrative and general support to the team and carers. You will support the smooth running of the Carers Centre, liaising with contractors, ensuring health and safety process are kept up to date, monitoring rooms and ensuring rooms are ready for meetings when required. When meetings take place you will support the running of these including booking and minute taking. You will undertake reception duties including triage calls and assisting visitors so speak to the right person as well as providing simple information and advice to carers. You will also support around the administration related to the carers assessment process using the client record system and gaining feedback from their experience of using the service. In addition, you will carry out general administration tasks including the processing of payments and managing and updating websites and social media channels.

What you'll need to succeed

With a friendly and professional approach, you will have excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills. You will need excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach with the ability to use your initiative. You will have an assertive and resilient manner when engaging with difficult and challenging situations but be able to deal with the demands of carers and professionals whist be able to listen without making assumptions or judgements. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
