If you are passionate about enhancing the support in educational settings for children with vision difficulties this role could be perfect for you!
The Integrated Physical and Sensory Service (IPaSS) offers support to children with vision, hearing and physical difficulties in a range of settings across the city.
IPaSS is based at Oakfield School Site, 220 Hopewell Road, Hull, HU9 4HD. The post holder will be required to be mobile between different settings across the city of Hull.
Our Resource Team currently require a Curriculum Support Officer to work across a variety of educational settings, providing adapted and modified learning resources for children and young people who have a vision impairment to allow them full access to the national curriculum.
The main aspects of the role include:
- liaising closely with the Resource Lead Co-ordinator and the VI Support Team
- developing high quality adapted learning resources including large print, Braille and other tactile resources, using standard and specialist ICT equipment and software
- using a variety of specialist and mainstream equipment including printing, laminating, guillotine, photocopier, Zyfuse, binding and being able to decide upon the best tools for individual tasks
- organising and prioritising workloads to support teachers and teaching assistants in their classroom delivery
- maintaining and input into the development of record keeping systems
- contributing to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Resource Team, IPaSS and Hull City Council
It is essential that the post holder has a proven track record of excellent ICT skills with a qualification in ICT at Level 3 or above. It is desirable that the candidate holds a Braille qualification. Experience of working in educational settings is also desirable. As a reflection of the integrated nature of the service, it is desirable that candidates are able to use British Sign Language at Level 1, or are willing to undertake training to achieve this qualification.
If you feel you have the right knowledge, skills and experience for this post we look forward to hearing from you.
