Purpose Job
Adding to the existing team. This role is key to developing an effective safeguarding culture across Agal and its partners. Taking the lead responsibility for all safeguarding and client protection matters arising and supporting all other staff in dealing with any abuse or protection concerns that arise.

Key Responsibilities

o Ensuring all staff fulfil their statutory duties of referring all confirmed cases of abused client to the police, as per legal requirements, and keeping records of these referrals and subsequent actions.
o Supporting other staff who have made referrals to Local Authority social care.
o Work with other members of the Agal to assess the risks and needs associated victims of domestic abuse and counselling clients and develop a multiagency plan to address them.
o Prepare written assessments, plans and progress reports for the Agal team and LA social care, ensuring that a response is received and recorded.
o Develop and deliver 1:1 and group work activities with Counselling and DA Support teams.
o Work closely with other professionals within Agal Counselling and DA Support teams and partnership agencies, including Police, Probation and multi-agency forums such as MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences)
o Making referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service where a member of staff is dismissed or resigns in circumstances where there has been actual harm, or risk of harm, to a client / staff.
o As required, liaising with the Head of Safeguarding & CEO in respect of any investigations.
o Review the Safeguarding policy and perform annual training for all Agal staff.


Raising Awareness
o Ensure the safeguarding/child protection policy and any other statutory documents are available publicly and are confirmed to be read and understood by all staff.
o Ensure that clients are aware that referrals about suspected abuse or neglect may be made to social care, and local authorities.
o Maintain links with the local Safeguarding Partnership to ensure staff are aware of training opportunities and the local policies on safeguarding.
o Share information about the welfare, safeguarding and child protection issues that, children involved, are experiencing, or have experienced with key adults within the Domestic Abuse cases.
o When clients complete or terminate their sessions with AGAL ensure their file is complete on the CRM platform and take responsibility for ensuring that reasonable steps are taken to effect secure (GDPR) completion and obtain confirmation from the client on the same.

Training
o Assessing the training needs of all Agal staff in relation to Safeguarding & IDVA and implementing and maintaining an ongoing training programme for staff including induction training for all newly appointed staff and volunteers.
o Participate in Division of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) core training as required.
o Work with Agal and DCYF staff to provide training and education on the cooccurrence of domestic violence and child abuse/neglect to collaborative providers, organizations, businesses, and the community at large.

Audits, evidence and reporting
o Creating and maintaining files of safeguarding evidence, including to support Safeguarding Governor / Counsellor / IDVA.
o Contributing towards and/or providing regular safeguarding reports to the Head of Safeguarding & CEO.
o Working with the nominated Safeguarding Governor to complete the Local Authority safeguarding audit, as required
