Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) in Operating Department Practice or Registered General Nurse qualification
- Clear and valid registration with the HCPC or NMC
- Proven experience as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) - Scrub, Anaesthetics or Recovery (Minimum 6 months)
- Strong understanding of perioperative care principles and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse healthcare teams
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient safety, dignity, and respect
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of the operating room and equipment for surgical procedures
- Providing pre-operative care to patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications
- Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical experience for patients
- Monitoring patients during surgery and providing immediate assistance as required
- Participating in post-operative patient care, including pain management and wound care
- Adhering to strict infection control protocols and maintaining a clean and safe operating environment
- Documenting patient information and maintaining accurate medical records
- Participating in continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest advancements in perioperative care
