Coed Glas Primary school requires two excellent, kind and caring TAs to work with pupils with Additional Learning Needs. The pupils are looking for an energetic, caring adult who can support them in developing their social skills, with their learning in the classroom, and to help and encourage them when managing their emotions. This post would suit a flexible, trained adult who shows patience and understanding, who has successful experience across the primary age, particularly in the early years.
The role will require flexibility and although the TA would work largely under the direction of the teacher the post requires the ability to take the initiative, addressing misconceptions and being proactive in working with the teacher to adjust plans. It is important for our TAs to build a good rapport with children and to be able to challenge as well as support. In addition, applicants should be able to manage resourcing and keeping records as well as having a creative flair to engage children.
As the main adult supporting the pupil, the candidate will have excellent communication skills and have experience of communicating effectively and sensitively with parents and carers.
Coed Glas Primary prides itself on developing the whole child and putting wellbeing at the centre of school life. We take a PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and Restorative Justice approach to supporting children and the successful candidate will show an understanding and willingness to work within our school philosophy.
Coed Glas Primary School is committed to safeguarding our children, staff and families. Applicants will be subject to Safer Recruitment Practises and successful applicants will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check.
Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
This salary is subject to the Living Wage supplement which brings pay rates up to £12 per hour (scp 2 - 4). This supplement will be reviewed in January 2024 and thereafter annually in April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage supplement.
Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
Please download or print off the application form by selecting the “Apply Now” button.
Application forms should be completed in full and returned to the school by email for the attention of The Headteacher, Mrs Sophie Notley, before the closing date.
Closing Date: Monday 30th September 2024 at 12 noon
Interviews will take place on Friday 4th October 2024.
We would welcome visits from interested candidates - please contact the school office to arrange a suitable time.
