How you’ll make a difference Lead Data Engineers play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of mission-critical applications and systems. They leverage their extensive technical expertise and leadership skills to lead complex projects, mentor junior team members, and drive innovation across the organization. They are proficient in data systems, tooling, frameworks, and technologies, and have a deep understanding of data architecture and design principles. They lead the technical direction and executions of data projects, ensuring high-quality data solutions align to business goals. Lead Data Engineers drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, but equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Experience in agile application development using Java/microservices with a focus on MongoDB and Kafka technologies.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and frameworks.
- Solid understanding of data architecture, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable and maintainable software systems.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and branching strategies.
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.Real-time Data Applications (e.g. ODS) Require knowledge and expertise in the following technologies (minimum 5 years):
- Data Management: MongoDB, Cassandra/ScyllaDB
- Data Integration: Kafka, Kafka Streams, Java, API (Graph QL)Data Analytics Applications (e.g. DWH)Additionally require knowledge and expertise in the following technologies:
- Data Management: Teradata, Azure Data Lake (or Snowflake, DataBricks etc)
- Data Modelling: Dimensional modelling / Kimball Design
- Data Integration: IBM DataStage, SQL, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue
- Batch Orchestration: TWS/OPC, JCL
- Data Visualisation: PowerBI
- Data Analytics: SAS or comparable
