Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join our stroke team. This post will predominantly be based at Queens Medical Centre on our acute wards, with the requirement to be able to work flexibly across the stroke pathway on the stroke rehabilitation wards at Nottingham City Hospital.
An enthusiasm to work with patients following stroke is essential, along with excellent time management skills, self-motivation and flexibility to meet the changing demands of the service. As well as hands on rehabilitation, the support worker assists the team with administrative tasks. Being computer literate with a willingness to learn the use of a range of hospital ICT systems would also be important in this role.
We are looking for someone who has previous experience of working in a rehabilitation or care setting, who is enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to delivering outstanding patient care. This is a close multidisciplinary team whereby the support worker will assist the delivery of Occupational Therapy rehabilitation programmes, working in close collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues to gain the best outcomes for patients. You will be supported to achieve this through an in service training programme and joint clinical work to gain your competencies to work in this specialist area.

The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering patient centred care and a desire to support patients in maximising their independence.
You will work alongside the occupational therapist to help patients improve their ability to carry out a wide range of activities of daily living (ADL) and maximising their functional ability to enable a safe transfer of care from hospital. The therapy support worker will implement rehabilitation plans designed for each patient according to their needs. You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of rehabilitation for patients, as well as delegated admin duties.
The successful applicant will receive a comprehensive induction and regular supervision within supportive and caring teams, as well as being supported to learn and continuously develop through in-service training. You will actively participate in service improvement, training, supervision and appraisal to develop your skills.
Therapies and Rehabilitation Services is one of the pathways within the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver the high-quality care we aspire to.
Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.
We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
