Finance Analyst
12 Month Secondment – 4 days on site at Satellite Delivery Centre – 1 day working from home.

The Opportunity
Working as our next HPC Financial Control Analyst, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the Financial Control Managers across HPC’s various Programmes and Functions. By delivering insightful financial analysis, this position helps the team provide critical challenge, assurance, and accurate reporting on financial performance. This work ensures a clear, unified view of the financial landscape is presented to HPC leadership and external stakeholders, contributing to informed decision-making and overall project success.

What you will be doing
As a member of the HPC Financial Control team, you'll gain hands-on experience in delivering timely, accurate, and insightful management information to support strategic decision-making. You’ll be involved in key financial processes such as budget control and cash forecasting, while also contributing to the enhancement of the team’s data reporting capabilities. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Support the management accounts for the HPC project by verifying monthly ACWP (Actual Cost of Work Performed) figures, working closely with Project Controls and Commercial teams to report, understand, and challenge costs.
- Oversee budget control, accruals, and ensure funds availability.
- Conduct monthly cash forecasting with contract stakeholders to ensure accurate forecasts and avoid holding excess cash.
- Analyse and provide commentary on budget and forecast variances for management accounts.
- Deliver comprehensive business planning, financial monitoring, and reporting services.
- Challenge budget holders on financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist in the development of forecasts and the Medium-Term Plan (MTP) for future cost and cash reporting.
- Complete Off-Balance Sheet Commitments (OBSC) reports twice a year.
- Perform accrual substantiations for various contracts, supporting both external audits (biannually) and internal audits (quarterly).
