Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. Your primary duty is to manage the Security operations, ensuring the safety and security of all persons and properties at Kings College Hospital, promoting public reassurance and reducing the fear of crime by providing a high profile visible uniformed presence. 2. To be responsible for the management, supervision and administration of security staff including: appraisals, attendance sheets, sickness / absence records, disciplinary investigations, training and the implementation of the Trusts policies and procedures. Conducting a daily handover of information. 3. To co-ordinate all staff duties, ensuring that any staff absence is covered and that staff patrol and provide escorts as directed, whilst delegating additional tasks as necessary. Utilising leadership and problem solving skills to make decisions that may conflict with medical or senior staff. 4. To respond to any security incident within an agreed time frame and to attend at medical emergencies to provide support to medical staff, including the use of reasonable force, if necessary. 5. To liaise with all Emergency Services and the Trusts Works Department to assist them as necessary in pursuit of their duties. 6. To co-ordinate and work as part of the Fire Response Team, liaising with other departments and the Fire Brigade as appropriate. 7. To manage and staff the hospitals Security Control Room, monitoring all alarms within, as well as monitoring the CCTV cameras. Ensuring all equipment is operational and that faults are reported immediately. To compile and update the Standard Operating Procedures for the Service. 8. To use designated powers & policies when intervening at incidents, whilst deterring, and preventing crime and other anti-social behaviour. To undertake, as appropriate, necessary tasks and risks associated in restraining/detaining individuals. 9. To promote a pro-security culture within the Trust so that patients and staff accept responsibility for this issue. Whilst ensuring that where security incidents/breaches do occur that they are detected and reported. To actively seek information/intelligence associated with criminal offences committed and to identify suspects and trends. 10. To investigate and monitor ongoing staff investigations into security incidents/breaches in a fair, objective and professional manner so that the appropriate sanctions are taken and consideration of preventive action takes place. 11. To manage the hospitals car parking systems and to enforce the Trusts parking policies, including PCNs where appropriate. Ensuring all car park monies are collected and counted on a regular basis, whilst calculating cash till revenue on a daily basis and depositing for collection; often handling amounts of up to £15,000. 12. As required, to attend court and give evidence in relation to any incident that is within the post holders personal knowledge or in which the post holder has any involvement. 13. To ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met and maintained and to actively pursue and reinforce the Trusts policies in relation to Equal Opportunities and diversity legislation. 14. To comply with the Trust and local security policies. 15. To take additional responsibilities in the absence of a Security Manager and justify any management decisions made. 16. To support risk Management for the Directorate and the Trust by identifying, implementing maintaining controls, contingencies and action. All staff have a responsibility to report all clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly and when requested to co-operate with any investigation undertaken. Confidentiality During the course of your employment you may have access to, see or hear information of a confidential nature and you are required to observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff. In order to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 you must not at any time use personal data held by either Trust for any unauthorised purpose or disclosure such as data to a third party. You must not make any disclosure to any unauthorised person or use any confidential information relating to the business affairs of the Trusts, unless expressly authorised to do so by the Trust. Health & Safety The post holder must co-operate with Management in discharging its responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and well being and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post. Infection Control The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make to infection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role. These requirements are set out in the National Code of Practice on Infection Control and in local policies and procedures which will be made clear during your induction and subsequent refresher training. These standards must be strictly complied with at all times.
