Crynodeb
Mountford Sport Horses is a
professional event/producing yard, headed by young rider Polly Mountford. We
have up to 18 horses on the yard, depending on the time of year, ranging from
foals to competition horses and plenty at all stages in between. We have a
great set up and a system that seems to work well. Facilities include 10 well
fenced paddocks with automatic water drinkers, 15 stables, wash bay, solarium,
horse walker, arena and excellent off road hacking.
The day to day responsibilities of this job would be to assist with;
mucking out
turning horses in and out
grooming
preparing horses for exercise
cleaning tack
putting horses on and off the walker
keeping the yard tidy. Hacking and lunging possible depending on experience.
Potential for own
horse on separate arrangement for the right person
In addition there will be the
requirement to be occasional travelling groom for events/competitions/outside
training.
The successful applicant
will get experience in all aspects of sport horse care, management and riding,
depending on experience.
Days of work will be discussed on a rota basis. You will be required to work some weekend days in competition season.
The apprenticeship is a work based based full time position. Therefore, not lots of time spent sitting in a classroom.
You have to be a UK resident or have lived in the EU for 3 years or more to apply for this role.
Training
All training provided at the employers premises by the employer or Haddon Training.You will need to work towards your maths and/ or English Functional Skills qualification at level 1 or 2 if required.
Qualifications required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English
and maths is beneficial but not essential.
If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your
Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.
Skills required
It is essential that you are confident handling horses however we are more than happy to teach everything you will need to know as long as you want to learn!
Prospects

definitely potential for progression and further employment.
