What skills and experience we're looking for
Aurora Academies Trust has 7 Academies across south-east England- providing educational opportunity to 3000 pupils delivered by a staff team of nearly 450 talented educators. Our mission is simple: Aurora exists to provide opportunity and create success for all our pupils, and collaboration lies at the heart of the work of our organisation. Each Aurora school has its own unique identity and place in its local community, but we have developed common approaches in key areas that contribute to our collective success.
Oakwood Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school in the heart of its community in the Willingdon Trees area of Eastbourne. The academy has 325 students on roll aged between 3 and 11 and received a ‘Good’ grade from Ofsted in October 2022. A unique feature of the school environment is its Foundation Village, where pupils from the Nursery and Early Years settings engage in learning through play together in the sensory room, woodland, and generous grounds. Oakwood has established itself as a welcoming and popular school, where every child matters, and where supportive and positive relationships in both school and community are fostered. Our vision of ‘Being Better Every Day’ is achieved by having the highest aspirations for all and expecting the very best behaviour from our children, underpinned by our four core values: Knowledge, Equality, Determination, Achievement.
Oakwood Primary Academy has been on a rapid improvement journey since its Inadequate Ofsted rating in 2020, and we are now looking for our next leader to help the school reach its full potential. The new Headteacher will do this within a supportive, successful and growing MAT. You’ll be given every opportunity to work collaboratively with talented leaders across the Aurora family, embedding a shared culture of excellent practice and standards. As our new Headteacher, you will provide dedicated and compelling leadership that will further improve the academy for the children it serves. The Aurora Curriculum is well embedded at the academy, providing a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious senior leader to ensure best practice teaching and learning remains central to what we do.
What the school offers its staff
In return, we can offer you exceptional support and an exciting career within a dynamic and supportive organisation. At Aurora Academies Trust we know that our schools need the best Headteachers to lead them. If you are a dedicated and successful Deputy or Headteacher, then do get in touch. To arrange a confidential conversation about the role, please contact our recruitment partners at Propelo on 01273 222 877 or visit:https://aurora.our-careers.co.uk.
Commitment to safeguarding
The responsibility to keep children safe belongs to all of us. Oakwood has a very clear Safeguarding Policy that is available from the school office or under our Policies section on the school website.
