Join us as a Trainee Business Support Administrator and play a vital role in supporting the Forest of Dean District Council. This is a unique opportunity to begin your career in a dynamic environment where you'll develop key skills, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the community.
We also welcome applications from school leavers interested in joining us as an apprentice; please note that in this case, the salary mentioned above will be adjusted to reflect apprentice rates.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Council: Provide essential administrative support across various departments, ensuring the smooth handling of day-to-day tasks.
Learn and Grow: Develop a deep understanding of the Council's services and operations through on-the-job training and collaboration with different teams.
Customer Interaction: Handle enquiries efficiently and effectively via face-to-face interactions, telephone, email, and social media, ensuring a high level of customer service.
IT Proficiency: Use multiple IT systems to manage, resolve, and accurately record enquiries.
General Administration: Assist with office tasks such as photocopying, scanning, data entry, diary management, and support for Council employees.
Liaison: Forward enquiries to appropriate services or organisations, and effectively communicate with Officers, Senior staff, and Councillors.
Continuous Development: Attend additional training as required to enhance your skills and ensure the efficient delivery of your role.
You will need…
GCSE Level 9 - 4 (formerly A* to C) Maths and English
Commitment to attaining a Business Administration qualification
Excellent interpersonal skills – Communicates effectively and confidently
Good level of IT and keyboard skills with a confident attitude to learn new systems
Excellent attention to detail
A willingness to learn and work with various teams as the demands of the Council varies
