We are excited to be recruiting to our Radiology Sister Post at Dorset County Hospital. Come and join a innovative, friendly team, focussing on the smooth and safe running of our Radiology Interventional Services.
The overall purpose of the Lead Nurse role is to provide effective and accessible leadership to the radiology nursing and radiography assistant teams so ensuring the highest standards of safe patient care during Diagnostic Imaging investigations and procedures.
Management of the Radiology nurses team, overseeing the clinically safe running of the Radiology service and procedures.
Working with service leads to develop the Radiology and interventional service, working towards a Radiology Day Case Unit.
The Radiology Department at Dorset County Hospital is a progressive, patient focused department and is highly regarded by the clinical teams that use our services. The department is a busy district general hospital department providing CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, symptomatic breast services and plain film and is also a friendly place to work with an excellent working relationship between all staff within the department regardless of position.
· Responsible for co-ordinating and ensuring the areas of work run smoothly and efficiently using evidence based clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills
· Promotion of high-quality individualised care to all patients by supporting nursing staff to assess, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
· Contribute to the development of new protocols and procedures within the area of speciality i.e. radiology nursing including interventional radiology
· Responsible for the radiology nursing clinical governance including patient safety, evidence-based practice and clinical audit. In particular to lead on audits of the WHO/NatSSIP checklists and patient consent.
· Responsible for safe patient care during all interventional radiology investigations and procedures by ensuring the competence of both registered nursing staff and non-registered staff.
