Summary

Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

Salary: £11.50 per hour

Contract: Fixed until August 2025

Interviews: 27th September

This role will cover busy periods here at Hardcastle Craggs over the summer and Easter periods. The role will also also back fill holidays.

What it's like to work here
The role is based at the unique Hardcastle Crags around Gibson Mill.

You will be joining an existing team of facilities Assistants, and will be in post to help provide additional support during the busy school holiday periods, as well as busy weekends.

Main aspects of the role include welcoming visitors to site,

This role will sometimes involve lone working, but you will be supervised by a manager on site throughout the day and through radio contact.

You will be working outdoors a lot of the day and includes keeping the site tidy, lighting fires in the winter, staying on top on the Bo mass boiler and small maintenance tasks around the Mill.

What you'll be doing
As the Facilities Assistant, you'll assist with the day to day cleanliness and presentation the National Trust’s buildings and outdoor spaces. You’ll turn your practical hand to all sorts of cleaning and minor maintenance ensuring all our facilities are kept in good working order. You'll also be asked to help with some manual work such as unloading deliveries.

Duties such as cleaning, sweeping and litter picking will form a core part of the role, both inside and outdoors. You’ll ensure the highest standards of customer service across the area by always implementing a ‘customer comes first’ attitude. General maintenance work and helping within other teams will also form part of your role.
