The New Hospital Programme (NHP) Finance Directorate supports and enables the delivery of NHP’s strategic objectives by ensuring that NHP’s finances are managed appropriately in the short, medium and long-term, ensuring there are robust controls in place to manage risk, proactive stakeholder engagement and effective financial management (including ownership of workstream budgets and agreeing capital envelopes).
This is an exciting opportunity to join the New Hospital Programme Finance Strategy & Operations team. We are a rapidly growing and supportive team looking for a high performing, adaptable finance professional who can establish themselves quickly.
The postholder will be working closely with the Finance Business Partnering team and other workstreams within the programme across NHS England and the Department of Health & Social Care
As a Senior Accountant you will work as part of the Finance Operations team to deliver an exceptional service to senior leaders across the Programme ensuring that NHP lives within its annual budget and delivers value for money. You will:
Provide specialist financial support & guidance to Directors in managing their delegated budgets and improve financial competence across NHP through learning activities and proactive engagement
Present, interpret, and explain complex and technical financial information and concepts in a clear and concise format, tailoring for finance and non-finance audiences
Completion of the Month end management accounts process, including related analysis and transactions.
For your portfolios, you will lead the Directorate on business planning exercises ensuring resource requirements align to the programme’s strategy and milestones
Actively participate in the development of the Finance Operations team in supporting the delivery of NHP’s strategic objectives by ensuring that NHP’s finances are managed appropriately in the short and medium term with robust controls in place to discharge responsibilities and ensure compliance with Managing Public Money and other relevant standards and guidance.
Deputise for the Financial Controller as required, including at formal governance meetings
