Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Nurses
Band 7 or Band 6 development (depending on experience)
2 x full time, fixed term positions until 31/03/2025
1 x 30hrs – 37.5hrs full time fixed term position until October 2025
This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join our existing Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Team (PCCOT) within Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
Are you an experienced, dynamic paediatric nurse who can multi-task, make high level decisions and demonstrate excellent people skills whilst being focussed on working collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team, leading and providing expert care for critically ill children?
As a paediatric critical care outreach nurse, you will have advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills and will act as a professional role model, supporting, educating and developing new and existing nurses and junior medical staff in paediatric acute and high dependency care across the whole of the children’s hospital.
This role allows experienced and senior nurses the opportunity to focus on clinical care delivery and education for our higher acuity patient group. The PCCOT are involved in leading on clinical management pathways for patients, ensuring a high standard of holistic, evidence-based care is achieved and maintained in all clinical areas. The successful applicants will be expected to work autonomously across all areas of the hospital, leading, managing and supervising the assessment of care.
Applicants are required to be RSCN or RN-Part 15 (Child Branch) and have a post-registration qualification in a relation to acute paediatrics, high dependency/critical care. You will have excellent communication skills, proven acute paediatric clinical skills together with organisational, leadership and management expertise.
Previous experience as an Outreach Nurse is desirable.
Please note that this vacancy is not suitable for overseas registered nurses who are required to pass the OSCE exam before they can register with the UK NMC.
We are looking to second into three fixed term positions to support winter pressures across the hospital. Please ensure you have agreement to be released for a secondment from your current line manager before submitting an application.
