The team

People and Inclusion is a delivery focused team within Strategy Transformation and Assurance, delivering effective services for our customers and people to enable more sustainable EA2025 outcomes.

This role is within the Leadership and Capability team focused on enabling the growth and development of our people.

Team delivery is aligned to:

• Leadership and Talent Management,
• Professional/Technical Capability
• Learning management systems/national training planning.

This leadership role will directly line manage 4 people.
Experience/skills required

Essential

• Proven Organisational Development experience with associated knowledge of translating this into effective programmes of delivery.
• Ability to lead and develop a team of professionals to assure and deliver an effective service
• Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and build effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve business outcomes
• Ability to diagnose business issues and influence others to enable effective business development outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence effectively with varied audiences at all levels across the organisation
• Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Organised, action orientated, excellent attention to detail to ensure work is delivered to a high standard and at pace.
• Experience of leading a dispersed team

Desirable

• Professional chartered member of CIPD or equivalent

We are looking for someone with organisational development skills and experience to support and enable implementation of our People Strategy, in partnership with our Defra HR and Learning and Development (L&D) colleagues. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that organisational development initiatives, specifically across leadership, behaviours and talent development are integrated and effectively implemented to support the achievement of our business goals and outcomes.

Leading a small team of professionals within the Leadership and Capability Team you will provide expertise and ‘drive’ to ensure that the Environment Agency commissions and develops the right solutions to create an inclusive, diverse and capable workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of the Environment Agency’s Learning and Talent Management Strategy
• Translate business needs into effective organisational development requirements through effective diagnostic approaches
• Ensure that the development initiatives are evaluated and continuously improved to meet the Organisation’s needs and ensure Value for Money.
• Work with Business leads and our HR and L&D partners to provide expert advice and guidance to support people development
• Enable the effective implementation of the Organisation’s Single Capability Framework across the employee lifecycle
• Work collaboratively to ensure that learning and development and talent management initiatives are effectively integrated with interdependent workstreams
• Ensure clear, timely and consistent messages are communicated across the organisation
