A really exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist post in our North East Essex Autism Service. This service links closely with our NE/West Adult ADHD service and in future we are looking towards developing a neurodevelopmental service.
The assistant psychologist will provide psychological assessment, triage and screening of referrals and clinically related administration under the direct supervision of a qualified psychologist who will retain clinical responsibility for clinical work carried out, provided that the clinical work is within the care plan specified. To participate in audit, service evaluation and/or research and to undertake teaching and project work under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. Specific duties will be determined on the basis of skills and experience and operational service requirements, and may vary occasionally as service needs/priorities change.
• To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service
• To perform other duties appropriate to the grade of assistant psychologist that may be required by their psychology manager.
• To receive weekly supervision from a qualified psychologist within the service in accordance with BPS guidelines and Trust policy.
• To undertake continued professional development in line with BPS recommendations in order to develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.
• To develop and maintain the highest standards of professional practice through an identified programme of continued professional development agreed with line manager.
• To adhere to the professional codes of practice of the Health Professions Council, British Psychological Society and Trust policies and procedures with regards to report writing and clinical record keeping.
• To undergo regular performance appraisal and review with the line manager.
