Have you previously held an NMC PIN? Are you ready to return? At OUH we are committed to supporting you back into your career and re-joining the NMC register. We know that to get you to this point has involved lots of decisions. We are here to help you with this and celebrate your return. We have midwifery positions available here at OUH.

How we will help

We are offering a seconded route into your return to practice with the NMC in all four of our hospital sites in Oxfordshire. Working as a Band 3 Maternity Support Worker you will refresh your skills and confidence looking after patients, supported by our teams. You will be supported to apply for a place on one of the Return to Practice courses, hosted by a variety of universities. Whilst you are on the programme you will work as a student nurse or midwife, with the support of a Practice Assessor. On successful completion of the programme and return of your NMC PIN, you will convert to a Band 5 preceptee midwife. From here you can expect a preceptorship period as you build your career in the direction you want to go in.

Support available.

As a returner the university fees will be paid for you and you will continue to be paid as a band 3 while you train. Whilst you are working as an MSW you will be able to access role specific training, both in person and online learning. As a student midwife you will be able to attend student specific training, supporting by our maternity team. A full preceptorship programme will be offered on re-entry to the register with support from the Practice Development Team. You will continue to be paid throughout your training and will transfer from a Band 3 to a Band 5 seamlessly. The OUH is committed to continuing professional development and further opportunities are available at degree and master’s level.

Please note: this job is not eligible for International Educated Midwives seeking an NMC PIN.
