About the Role:

Newcastle College University Centre is seeking a qualified Higher Education Access and Participation Coach with a CELTA or TEFL qualification. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and committed to supporting our diverse student population, including those for whom English is a second language. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the academic journey of our students, focusing on widening participation and delivering specialised support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide personalised coaching and develop support resources tailored to the needs of widening participation students, with a special emphasis on those with English as a second language.
Design and conduct workshops to improve academic and digital literacy skills, addressing the unique challenges faced by the target student cohort.
Create electronic resources and support materials that are accessible across various levels and subject areas, assisting both students and staff.
Work closely with FE and HE teaching and support teams to implement proactive strategies for student support. Coordinate with internal entities to develop research and study skills.
Track student engagement, monitor progress, and report on the effectiveness of support initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in student outcomes.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:

CELTA or TEFL qualification
Relevant Level 6 degree or PGCE
Experience working with young people and adults with diverse abilities
Proven track record in delivering workshops and training sessions in Higher Education settings
Demonstrable experience in widening access and student support, particularly for students with English as a second language
