This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Medicines Management Service in Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The organisation has recently invested significantly in the team’s expansion to reconfigure the way we deliver our service. We would like you to join our team and be part of delivering the next stage of our exciting journey.

The Medicines Management team is well established with a track record in delivering outcomes, our pharmacy support workers are key to ensuring this happens.

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and motivated individuals to join our team of pharmacy support workers. We have vacancies for permanent positions including flexible working opportunities based at Maghull Health Park.

Positions available are based within technical services in dispensary.

Dispensary service

This team is responsible for the supply and dispensing of medicines in line with standard operating procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity to begin or further your pharmacy career or break into the hospital sector. Excellent career development and progression opportunities are available within our medicines management service. Pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided following commencement in role. There will be opportunities for learning and completion of qualifications.

The successful candidates will support the smooth running of the pharmacy dispensary services ensuring that medication is supplied safely and accurately, in a timely manner. You will be required to undertake a broad range of duties, and an opportunity to rotate across the services gaining experience and skills in each area.

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated individuals to join our team who have an interest in developing their professional career within a hospital pharmacy setting.

There will be opportunity to develop your skills and experience and we will provide full training and a well-structured support system, including robust individual and group supervision, personal development planning and access to professional development opportunities.

You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focused service.

This role would suit someone who is committed to providing high quality patient focused care utilising excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within a large team.  

These posts are based within our main Medicines Management Building at Maghull Health Park; however, you may be required to work at other trust locations.

The post-holder will be obliged to participate in our seven-day medicines supply service in line with the hours of operation

1. To work in accordance with trust policies, procedures & standard operating procedures as appropriate.
2. To undertake mandatory and other applicable training internally within the trust.
3. To carry out on-the-job training in the duties of a pharmacy support worker, developing and maintaining the required knowledge, skills and attitudes to fulfil those duties as required.
4. To engage in learning opportunities, including shadowing of more experienced staff members and requesting experience in particular areas of interest.
5. To participate in any rota and/or internal team training opportunities to support flexible working; this will support cover where necessary; and maintain stores & ward-based
competencies. This may include working on secure wards.
6. To utilise the automated medicines management equipment, including robotic dispensing systems, following department standard operating procedures; and to respond appropriately to system failures and problems (to troubleshoot), escalating issues as required.
7. To assist with the computerised and physical distribution of pharmaceutical products to all clients and departments, (including internal pharmacy or medicines management requisitions) ensuring
documentation is completed appropriately.
8. To accurately and efficiently supply stock and dispensed medicines, including supply of compliance aids and patient information leaflets.
9. To provide support for unlicensed medicines, including maintenance of stock and records, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
10. To participate in the supply of temperature-controlled products in line with standard operating
procedures.
