Salary: IPSA recommended scales : Senior Caseworker £29,727 - £46, 381 Length of Contract: Permanent subject to 6-month probation
Becky Gittins MP is looking for a full time Senior Caseworker to join her team. The successful candidate will deliver timely, relevant support and advice to constituents of Clwyd East on behalf of Becky. Candidates will have casework experience and ideally have experience of working in an MPs office.
Job Requirements –
• Manage large numbers of standard queries and execute complex cases from the public in a professional and sensitive manner
• Ensure that all cases are properly logged, responses drafted, concise reports written & an action plan drafted to include ongoing monitoring
• Monitor the achievement of the response targets and report back to Office Manager and MP
• Ensure casework system runs efficiently and set targets for responding to casework enquiries
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports with staff
• Stay up to date on relevant legislation and gather relevant information from agencies & charities to assist with resolving cases
• Accompany MP/other staff members to relevant meetings/visits
• Comply with all relevant data protection legislation
• Support other colleagues with casework and delegate casework accordingly
• Keep up to date on relevant training provided by parliament
• Take phone calls from constituents/ assist at surgeries and action cases appropriately
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
Required experience:
• Experience working as a caseworker in an MP’s office or for a relevant public body/third party sector
• Polite, confident and empathetic approach to public engagement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Outlook, Office and ideally "Caseworker"
• Ability to handle difficult or emotive situations in a sensitive manner
• Highly motivated and well organised - able to prioritise & respond to a high volume of diverse work
• Interest and willingness to learn about relevant casework areas eg welfare, pensions
• Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
