Our Oakdale office is the largest independent water fittings and materials testing laboratory in the UK. With over 75 years’ experience of water supply and distribution, NSF tests a wide range of products which come into contact with water, from taps and pipes to washing machines and showers.
We have an exciting opportunity here at NSF to join our office in Oakdale, South Wales as a Junior Laboratory Assistant who will be responsible for performing some of these tests under the supervision of our Analytical Test Lead.
Principal accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Conduct tests on materials intended to come into contact with drinking water to national and international standards
• Preparing and conducting odour and flavour tests for panellist assessments
• Conducting analytical tests on water samples, including colour, turbidity and metal content (by ICP-MS)
• Conducting basic microbiological tests, including cell-line maintenance.
• Accurately completing worksheets, data entry on IT systems, and filing records
• Liaising with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
• General laboratory housekeeping duties, including washing glassware
QUALIFICATIONS:
• We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and hardworking individual
• You should have good attention to detail, and be accurate in your work
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Further or higher education in a science-based subject, and experience of working in a laboratory environment is preferable, but full training will be given
