Vacancy: Shop Assistant
Hours: Part Time. 16 hours across two days (Monday to Saturday)
Responsible to: Shop manager
Salary: £23400 per annum pro rata (£12 per hour)

Job Description
Sales assistant is responsible for day-to-day running of the shop when the manager is not present. Their key responsibilities are to maintain a safe and welcome environment for volunteers and customers as well as maximizing sales and donations.
Key Responsibilities
Opening & closing the shop as a key holder
Setting up the till/float in preparation
Balancing till each day.
Maintain stock levels on the shop floor
Pricing items using provided guide as well as researching higher value items
Assist Manager in day to day running of the shop
Communicate issues with shop Manager
Manage volunteers
Receive and sort donations
Provide a high level of customer service
Ensuring health & safety of customers whilst on Birthlink premises
Preparing uplifts for recycling collections
Maintain good house-keeping (shop floor, and storeroom)
Manual handling and moving of heavy donations.
Keep good visual merchandising on the shop floor
Rotate and maintain a window display
Lone working
Working across both of our charity shops
Personal Specification
Essential
Physical ability to move heavy bags of clothes and bric-a-brac
Confident handling money
Ability to work alongside and support volunteers
Able to communicate clearly with a wide range of people
Calm and measured approach
Organized
Dependable, honest and enthusiastic
Able to work alone and on own initiative
Must be willing to get stuck in with all aspects of the running of the shop
An interest in fashion, crafts, or collectables
Desirable
Retail or service sector experience
Experience managing volunteers
Experience using online sales platforms and social media
Merchandising/window dressing experience
