To provide clinical and professional leadership to the Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Team.



To develop the skin cancer services in line with national and local demands. To develop innovative pathways to facilitate prompt, high quality patient care.



To provide a high-level specialist nursing service to patients with skin cancer, and their carers. 60% of the post holder’s time should be spent providing nurse- led activity, with the remainder of the time leading on service development, audit and education.

The Lead Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist will provide expert nursing care, advice and support to Skin Cancer patients admitted to EKHUFT

Plan and prescribe care of patients withSkin Cancerconditionswith the support of the Multidisciplinary Team

· Act as an autonomous practitioner, triaging patients and ensuring that their plan of care is appropriate,

· Develop support and nurse led services in liaison with the relevant

· Demonstrate leadership in all areas of Skin Cancer and act as an expert resource to other professionals involved in the care of these patients.

· Work unsupervised as an independent practitioner and be accountable for their own professional actions

· Possess current clinical expertise, depth, knowledge and understanding of Skin Cancer conditions and treatment pathways

· Deliver the induction and on-going training for all staff in Skin CNS team.

Liaise with colleagues, peers and clinical audit teams to establish information and audit systems for Skin Cancer patients

· Implement patient focused benchmarking within the current service provision

· Take responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to own area of work.

Promote patient and public involvement activities in the specialist area, leading to service improvement.

Carry out general duties as required by the role.
