We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and competent Nurse to work within the National Gender Dysphoria National Referral Support Service (GDNRSS). The GDNRSS is a forward thinking team in a growing and exciting area within the NHS.
Developed in conjunction with NHS England, GDNRSS is within the Clinical Services Directorate and provides referral support for gender dysphoria services across England, Scotland, and Wales. The post holder will need to support patients with complex needs and be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders and be willing to travel to meet with customers across a wide geography.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with a diverse population, ability to work independently and quickly respond to changing needs and unexpected demands.
Due to the nature of the work within the service and our growing team, you will need to easily adapt to new ways of working within an evolving environment, be able to make things happen and quickly with a positive and proactive attitude. The post holder will need to be able to cover core service hours Monday to Friday. Please refer to the Job description and the Person Specification for details of the role and the skills, qualifications and experience required.
The post holder will work alongside a team of Specialist Nurse Advisors in the National Referral Support Service who will be responsible for supporting patient consultations who are seeking surgical intervention on the Gender Dysphoria Pathway commissioned by NHS England Specialised Services.
The post holder will facilitate patient consultations to enable the patient to make an informed choice regarding the type of surgical intervention and their preferred provider for specialist gender surgery, in addition to supporting patients whilst on the waiting list for surgery.
The postholder will have an active role in supporting with waiting list initiatives, this will involve proactively contacting patients on the waiting list to offer and support a transfer of care between providers.
The postholder will support the clinical service lead in shaping the future direction of service delivery, ensuring the workstream is effectively planned and managed to ensure a high quality, clinically robust service.

Clinical / Operational Duties
· The postholder will have competence in clinical decision making in relation to interpreting clinical information provided by gender services to initiate the relevant and appropriate interventions in line with NHS England’s Service Specification.
· Provide specialist clinical advice and guidance relating to specialist gender surgery, including but not restricted to, information regarding clinical techniques, specific surgical provider options, pre and post operative care and recovery.
· To work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including all NHS England commissioners and care providers involved in delivering Gender Dysphoria services (Non-Surgical and Surgical).
· Active participation in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and policies pertinent to the service. Supporting the service with audits and analysing the results to inform service improvements
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, policies and guidance in line with appropriate healthcare sector and Gender DysphoriaServices
