Salary is £26,880 per annum depending on skills and experience

Standby rota is part of the roll and paid on top of your salary as well as any overtime.

Role Overview:

Southern Water has an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality Technicians to join our friendly, dynamic team in Chatham.

The role of Water Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring Southern Water meets the required regulations set to us by the Drinking Water inspectorate and the Environment Agency. Your day-to-day duties will include undertaking water, wastewater and sludge sampling in accordance with the sampling schedule, taking great care and attention to detail to ensure procedures are followed correctly to ensure we deliver to associated quality checking to ISO17025, DWTS and MCERTS. This role comes with a company van.

You will have opportunity to meet customers, therefore it is essential for you to have a broad overview of customer facing policies and have the ability to deal with customers in an empathetic and positive manner in handling complaints acting as an ambassador for Southern Water.

As part of your role, you will ensure safety processes and procedures are followed within the operational area, keeping the Southern Water operation site secure and assess operational sites for general condition of operation / defects / issues. It is key to report any safety hazards, scientific equipment management and fault diagnosis in carrying out your day-to-day activity in your role.

About you:

- GCSE’s or equivalent in Maths, English and a science subject.
- Must have a clean driving license
- Have a good understanding of company policy in relation to customer service.
- Must be IT literate
- Good communication skills, able to have an empathetic view of the customer.
- Must be trusted and able to work competently and reliably unsupervised.
