Psychology Services for HMPPS Youth Custody Service (YCS) are currently recruiting Senior Registered Psychologists. YCS is geographically dispersed with boys and girls aged under 18 years accommodated in a variety of sites including: HMYOIs Feltham (Heathrow), Wetherby (Yorkshire) and Oakhill Secure Training Centre (STC). YCS Psychology Services provide a spectrum of services across all sites with staff based in all YOIs and the STC. Other posts also provide a service across all sites and require a willingness to travel given YCS is geographically dispersed across England and Wales. Whilst Feltham only currently accommodate boys, Wetherby and Oakhill accommodate both boys and girls. Successful applicants will be part of an established team committed to working with children in custody which includes Forensic, Counselling, Occupational and Educational Psychologists plus Family Therapists.
YCS Senior Psychologists also have responsibilities to line manage and supervise Forensic Psychologists in Training. YCS collaborates with NHS England in the delivery of the SECURE STAIRS framework for integrated care and the post-holder will be part of a vibrant multi-agency team driving forward a trauma-informed approach for working with often the most complex children in our society. Whilst motivation and the required resilience to work with children is therefore essential, experience is only desirable as full training and support will be provided. As part of the wider Psychology Services Group (PSG), opportunities for successful applicants to work with other populations and across other functions are abundant. All HCPC registered psychologists are therefore encouraged to apply or for an informal discussion please contact YCS Regional Lead Psychologist: alisa.purton@justice.gov.uk
