Crynodeb

We have a proven track record in training previous fellows and specialty trainees to ensure they achieve their career aims including CESR posts and National Training Numbers. Trainees within the department include Foundation Year 1s, GVTS, clinical fellows, dermatology specialty registrars, and post-CCT Mohs surgery fellows. We train all the specialty registrars on the Oxford Rotation in all aspects of dermatology including skin cancer surgery. We train GPs with specialist interest in dermatology as well as Thames Valley GPVTS trainees on the dermatology rotation. We have links with the Australian College of Dermatology and have an Australian dermatology registrar who rotates to Oxford for training. We have trained Australian, Singaporean and New Zealand registrars in surgical Mohs fellowships in the past and have offered surgical sabbaticals to a number of consultants from Europe, Canada and Russia. Daily consultant led skin cancer clinics are held with ~35-40 patients reviewed per day in conjunction with parallel consultant led surgical lists and Mohs micrographic surgery lists. General consultant led dermatology clinics run daily with 20 to 25 patients seen per clinic. Specialist clinics which run weekly or fortnightly include patch testing, allergy, paediatrics, vulval, cutaneous lymphoma and haematology, photosensitivity, nurse led biologics, acne, and leg ulcer. Photodynamic therapy and phototherapy are undertaken within the department. Laser work is primarily multiplex pulsed dye/Nd:YAG laser with a general anaesthetic list once per month at the Horton hospital.
