This is an exciting opportunity to play a lead role in shaping the Government’s major programme agenda, placing finance at the heart of decision-making within the future of digital infrastructure delivery.​

​You will lead on all aspects of financial accounting, transformation and systems for BDUK a delivery Executive Agency, providing a first point of contact for all financial accounting queries, and taking the lead on financial accounting decision-making for BDUK.​

​Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will work closely with a broad stakeholder community, including HM Treasury, the DSIT community, BDUK and our shared service providers.​

Responsible for the management and delivery of robust financial policies, controls, processes and systems for BDUKs £5.5bn programmes, with management of a team of up to 10 staff.​

  • Lead on the preparation of the BDUK ARA including, developing underlying systems and processes as an Executive Agency of DSIT​
  • Provision of expert technical financial advice to internal and external stakeholders on complex accounting issues – accounting, taxation and budgeting.​
  • Responsible for all accounting operational activity including cash flow management for both the programmes, totalling £5.5bn, Purchase to Pay (P2P) support, managing the relationships with DCMS and DSIT shared services provider.​
  • Lead on developing and implementing the financial control framework for the Department in line with finance functional standards including relevant GIAA recommendations.​
  • Management of the core department’s key finance system and the relationship with the department’s shared service provider Historic England then UKSBS after transition.​
  • Responsible for the audit and ensuring all necessary documentation is made available to the National Audit Office.​
  • Ensuring that the Department’s financial systems, cash management and cash forecasting regimes run securely, smoothly and efficiently.​
  • Responsible for Finance transformation for BDUK, giving expertise and advice across a range of internal and external stakeholders, as BDUK transitions from DCMS to DSIT as part of a MoG restructure. ​
  • Finance lead on the DSIT shared services Matrix Programme agenda jointly working with the Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) function and the cross departmental shared services cluster for BDUK.
