As the role is varied by the very nature of emergency service work, the below provides overarching summary of the key responsibilities. optimisation of resources to be available for deployment by the Emergency Operations Control Centres Effective liaison with Operational area tactical commanders and Duty EOC managers for in day delivery Effective management of Hospital and wider health system escalation, intelligence and coordination Leadership of the out of service support hub Performance Improvement and Intelligence information Tactical regional command of serious or significant incidents. Setting up of an incident command room when a declaration of a significant or major incident is declared. Business as usual Tactical command in the event of a major incident. Monitoring a range of live performance metrics so targets remain within the agreed operational thresholds;v5 Duty Tactical Commander Job Description Direct active interventions to ensure optimal patient safety and regional operational performance delivery. Lead any surge escalation calls. Direct on a dynamic basis actions; Managing and holding Tactical cell managers and staff to account through the setting of actions and objectives. Maintaining effective oversight to support the safety and wellbeing of staff that are late off duty. Providing exception authority for the removal of resource from service for staff related wellbeing matters Identifying KPI breaches and remedial actions Communicating effectively and timely with key external stakeholders when required to identify and resolve dynamic issues in day-to-day operations; Making the most effective decisions without reference to others on behalf of the EEAST that affect patient care, the public, staff and the service using well-informed judgement and when necessary in collaboration with a range of stakeholders; Assuming the responsibility of the most senior tactical level manager on duty Being a role model leader by demonstrating effective and appropriate behaviours in both day-to-day operations and in high risk, difficult and distressing situations; being flexible by demonstrating appropriate leadership styles and adapting communication to match the situation
