This role is an opportunity for the post holder to work within NHSE’s National Learning Disability and Autism programmes supporting one of NHSE’s key priority national programmes to lead important education and training developments across England. The role will provide clinical and education subject matter expertise to shape and deliver a range of workforce transformation activities within the designated national programme including new ways of working and accelerating upskilling programmes. The role includes working with key stakeholders to develop and implement advancing practice in learning disability and autism.

The post holder will work on key priorities across the learning disability and autism programme, at a national level, although may be required to advise on other aspects of programme delivery. A key area will be the development of advanced and consultant level practice and other key priorities.

You will work closely with Senior Programme Leads and Senior Leadership Team in the Directorate of Education and Quality providing specialist clinical advice and leadership to deliver key strands of NHSE’s Mandate and NHS Long Term Plan.

A key leadership role within the designated Programme.
• Advising on the clinical and strategic delivery of the designated work programme and providing a key interface to other relevant NHSE’s programmes to ensure alignment and complementary objectives.
• Providing the clinical knowledge and expertise of education and training to lead on the delivery of relevant activities within the designated national programme.
• Provide a clinical advisory/subject matter expert role in determining programmes of education and/or relevant processes for the multi-professional workforce within the designated national programme.
• Developing key strategic relationships with NHSE’s system partners to collaboratively develop and delivery policy, projects, and infrastructure to improve approaches, capacity and quality of education and training.
• Support the Programme lead to develop programmes of work to deliver NHSE’s strategic and statutory responsibilities to plan, develop and improve education and training in England.
• Work with internal and external clinical and managerial leadership to develop and deliver NHSE’s programme of work for the designated programmes.
• Work with the relevant Head of Programme and Programme Lead to develop an effective and excellent team.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
