Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer with a drive for improvement. You’ll be someone who thinks in terms of solutions and is focused on your own professional improvement and others. You’ll be pragmatic and have fantastic people skills to compliment your excellent or developing technical knowledge in Environmental Health.
If you’re recently qualified or about to sit your professional exams then what you lack in experience, you’ll make up for in enthusiasm and commitment to improving your skillset and contributing to the service. In return, you’ll be supported in your development and have the opportunity to work with like minded professionals and to bring your ideas to the Group and the wider service.
The role is based within the Public Health and Pollution Group which covers a diverse range of functions including ; statutory nuisance investigation, private water supplies, ship sanitation inspections, private sector housing repair, contaminated land, fly-tipping, air quality, noise control and input into development control of major developments in progress across the district. You will be able to support the Food and Business Group within the Section and maintain your professional competence in general as we are committed to ensuring your own professional development.
You’ll also strive to deliver the best service possible and support the Councils strategic priorities to improve the lives of residents , workers and visitors to West Dunbartonshire. West Dunbartonshire is a fantastic place to work and we offer a first class flexible working environment.
We welcome applications from qualified Environmental Health Officers holding the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health or its equivalent and also from final year Environmental Health students due to sit the REHIS professional exams later in 2024.
Requirements
The preferred candidate will be required to complete a Basic Disclosure check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
