The Departments of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and Colorectal Surgery within the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are seeking to appoint two Trust Grade Doctor posts. As well as supporting the delivery of the elective surgery service, the posts will include participation in the SpR on-call rota supporting the Acute Surgery service delivered at the Hull Royal Infirmary.
The Department of Upper GI is supported by nine consultants and the Colorectal Department is supported by eight consultants. Both services
have dedicated elective surgical wards at Castle Hill Hospital (Ward 14 - Upper GI and Wards 10 and 11 - Colorectal).
The jobs advertised are to cover two upcoming vacancies on the Tier 2 Registrar rota in Acute GI Surgery. The Acute GI Surgery service is
located on the Hull Royal Infirmary site and is delivered through Wards 6 and 60. One of the posts will support the Colorectal Surgery service and
the other post will support the Upper GI Surgery service.
Both posts will be fixed term for 1 year in the first instance, with the opportunity to extend after 12 months
The new appointee will work with the consultant team to support the delivery of both elective and acute Upper GI/Colorectal surgery work on both
the Hull Royal and Castle Hill Hospital sites.
As a Trust Doctor taking up one of these positions, you will receive:
• A named Clinical Supervisor
• 10 Study Days Leave per annum
• £500 of Study Leave Allowance per annum
• Access to an e-portfolio
• An assigned Appraiser and access to Multi-Source Feedback 360° (if required) and an Appraisal System
These posts do not hold a National Training Number.
The posts are ideal for an applicant with clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining any experience of General Surgery
practice above ST2 level.
