Crynodeb
To support and participate in the tertiary paediatric surgical service in the Childrens Hospital including on-call. To work in collaboration with the existing multidisciplinary team to enhance and further develop the services provided for neonates and children in Leicestershire and beyond. To take responsibility for in and out-patients under the care of the named consultant. To maintain the paediatric surgical service and provide outpatient clinics and operative surgery to Peterborough and Kettering hospitals. To support the neonatal services which has an estimated 11000 deliveries per year making it one of the largest in the country. To provide support and supervision to the junior staff, to provide teaching to the junior staff and medical students. To participate in and develop all aspects of the paediatric surgery workload including, outpatients, day care, theatre, emergencies and peripheral clinics. To participate in the acute paediatric surgical on-call rota, at a frequency of 1 in 8. To participate in the clinical governance and research activity of the unit, including audit, research, morbidity and mortality reviews, continuing development of clinical performance indicators. Shared provision of the teaching programme To enhance the profile of the Leicester Children's Hospital, and paediatric surgery/urology in Leicester through excellence of clinical service, and excellence in teaching, training and research including peer-reviewed publications and presentations to Societies.
