The Strategic Communication and Engagement service helps to engage with residents and businesses through work carried out by the Corporate Communications team, in conjunction with the Customer Service Hub and Community Partnership team. The team communicates a variety of information relating to council services, support and activities for people and communities through a range of channels, helping to make North Lanarkshire a great place to live, learn, work, invest and visit.
The team uses a range of platforms to engage with people who live and work here and create engaging information in a variety of formats through its digital channels. The role of Digital Media Assistant helps with providing service information updates, creating and posting compelling campaign content aimed at residents and providing assistance to customers on a range of council services through the council’s social media channels and websites. Directly responding to customer enquiries through digital platforms is central to the role.
This role reports to the Digital Team Leader and works in collaboration with the Customer Service Hub and the wider digital, campaigns and media teams to assist in responding to customer enquiries, make customer announcements, promote targeted communication campaigns to drive traffic to the website, encourage participation in services, and improve interaction and engagement on social media channels. As more services go online, it is expected that the person in this role will interact with customers through direct messaging, social media posts or by email.
You should have excellent verbal, written and IT skills, and have a basic understanding of publishing on websites and social media channels, although training can be provided. Strong creative skills, good at writing snappy content for social media posts and website content and be able to adapt quickly to service changes will be needed to work as part of a busy team at the heart of the council’s services. Attention to detail is important and the ability to gather up- to-date information from services.
A SVQ2/Higher/National5 education is essential and a relevant qualification in communications/media is desirable.
