Job Brief
arbnco is looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Backend Engineer with DevOps Expertise to join our software development team. You will be responsible for developing high-quality back-end software that aligns with user needs and business goals while also maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. This role will support developers in building and maintaining robust systems and manage cloud resources while implementing DevOps best practices.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Backend Engineer with DevOps Expertise at arbnco, you will play a crucial role in developing and deploying our applications. Your expertise will drive innovation, enhance functionality, and ensure our systems are scalable and secure.
Here are your key responsibilities:
Back-End Development
• Execute full lifecycle software development.
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
• Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.
• Integrate software components into a fully functional system.
• Tailor and deploy software tools, processes, and metrics.
• Document solutions with diagrams, charts, and clear code.
• Ensure that back-end code adheres to industry-standard secure coding practices to protect against common vulnerabilities.
• Ensure that the systems and processes comply with relevant data protection regulations.
DevOps Responsibilities
• Monitor the full product deployment lifecycle.
• Develop scripts to automate/enhance deployments, image building, and CI/CD.
• Manage cloud resources (databases, storage, clusters, queues).
• Implement industry-standard best practices for cloud management.
• Set up monitoring solutions for computational resources, cloud costs, and application/server logs.
• Support developers in debugging tasks by providing access to relevant logs and ensuring development environments are functioning as expected.
• Manage user access and permissions according to company needs.
• Provide guidance to developers and engineers on general deployment and infrastructure management tasks when needed.
Requirements
Education
• At least Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant certifications in DevOps or cloud management are a plus.
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a development role with exposure to DevOps and SysAdmin responsibilities.
• Proven experience in software development with a strong emphasis on Ruby on Rails. Python is a plus.
• Experience managing and scaling Azure cloud platforms; AWS is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps).
• Familiarity with Linux environments and remote access (bash scripting and SSH usage).
• Track record of writing efficient code and troubleshooting across different environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and automated deployment processes.
Skills and Attributes
• Strong problem-solving skills to tackle complex technical challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
