Main duties and responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to gain valuable experience in applied evaluative research of interventions responding to child to parent violence and abuse, currently an under-researched area. You will work on a Youth Endowment Fund funded trial evaluating the efficacy of an intervention for parents or carers experiencing child/adolescent to parent violence and abuse (CAPVA).

With the guidance of senior colleagues, the successful candidate will further develop their experience and skills in randomised control trials and implementation process evaluation. The trial will be conducted at the University of Hertfordshire with an experienced multidisciplinary team of researchers. The successful candidate will be based at the University as part of the trial and evaluation team and is expected to work closely with colleagues at RISE Mutual CiC, the grantees delivering the intervention. The role will involve travel across several boroughs around London and the Home Counties for data collection as an embedded researcher.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the Trial Manager while working proactively to ensure that study milestones and deliverables are met, ethical and quality standards are adhered to, and that data collected is of an acceptable standard. Working as an embedded researcher, the successful candidate will support families to complete outcome measures and surveys while also conducting interviews and focus groups with families and professionals. The successful candidate will be expected to implement the participant engagement strategies within the evaluation protocol and demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and accessibly, using empathy, tact and diplomacy with vulnerable families.
