Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As an IT Infrastructure Analyst, you will be involved in ensuring the operational reliability and security of our IT infrastructure. This role covers a broad range of responsibilities, from the proactive management of server estate, storage networks to ensuring optimal performance and security compliance. Your work will directly contribute to the Trust's ability to provide high-quality healthcare services through stable, secure, and efficient technology solutions. You will work together with various teams across the organisation to support and implement IT strategies that align with the Trusts goals, enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. Your main duties and responsibilities will include: Develop and implement new technologies aimed at improving communications, supporting management and facilitating improved treatment of patients. Technically assess and diagnose computer hardware and software faults that have been logged on the Trusts ICT Tech Bar ensuring each is responded to appropriately and resolved in a courteous and timely manner. Provide engineering and system support to the ICT Tech Bar, Applications, Data Engineering, EUC, Software Development and Product Engineering teams as required. Prioritise and assign the workloads in conjunction with the ICT Senior infrastructure Engineer, Operations Support Manager and Senior System Managers. Provide support and knowledge through coaching to the ICT Tech Bar team ensuring their ongoing personal and professional development. Configure and install computer hardware and software. Provide recommendations for new or replacement hardware and software. Participate when requested with the Technical Advisory Group, procurement activity and business case development. Ensure security and confidentiality of the Trusts servers, PCs and data, through the deployment and use of hardware and / or software to ensure protection in line with legislation, national and local policies and procedures. This includes (but not limited to) antivirus and malware, spam, encryption, web and email monitoring tools, and mobile device management. Ensure the security, maintenance and documentation of the Trusts Computer Rooms across all sites in line with legislation, national and local policies and procedures. This includes controlling and monitoring access, controlling environmental conditions (temperature/humidity) and ensuring reliable and continuous power supply. Ensure the operational and data administration tasks (including backups) are undertaken in a timely and appropriate manner to maintain data integrity and reduce risk to the Trust, liaising closely with other Digital Services Managers in the daily application and management of these procedures. Ensure that Active Directory is fully utilised, managed, controlled and regularly audited to provide full security and confidentiality of Trust systems and services. This includes user level security infrastructure from Domain wide administration group privileges to individual access rights. Participate in service continuity for the Trusts business critical systems and supporting environment to ensure that full and comprehensive plans are developed, fully documented, communicated, tested and reviewed at regular intervals to ensure validity, practicality and appropriateness, liaising with other Digital Services Managers, as appropriate. Support the technical evaluation, authorisation and release for patch management to the Trust Server estate, in line with Trust policy. Manage the deployment of licences on the Trusts server estate to ensure that the Trust is fully licensed, and licences are utilised in an efficient and effective manner. Participate in the review / technical assessments of all new technical developments or new technology as required to ensure compatibility with existing Trust hardware / software. Ensure full technical assessments are applied to all new releases of Trust managed or controlled software/technology with supplier liaison. Develop, release, support and maintain operating system images including version control for the physical PC (Desktop, laptop and mobile device) environment ensuring full documentation to enable on-going support for all versions. Participate in the selection, development, use and maintenance of hardware and software for use within the Server and PC environment liaising with other Informatics Teams and ensuring that NHS and Trust policies and procedures are followed. Support the ICT Asset Control Officer with Trust ICT equipment inventory register. Responsible for ensuring that the Trust software media library is fully maintained. Identify and highlight ICT equipment at risk of obsolescence. Ensure that the disposal of redundant equipment is in accordance with legislative, national and Trust policy and procedure. Undertake the planning and implementation of small-scale technical projects. Assist in the maintenance, organisation and development of the Trust computer and telecommunications network infrastructure. Report any security breaches to your line manager. Update Informatics Intranet and Digital Services Knowledge Base site content as directed by line manager for responsible area. Ensure accurate recording of actions within ICT Tech Bar and project management tracking systems. Participate with resource planning ensuring requested project actions are delivered on time as agreed with the Programme Management Office. Plan and review operational schedules and work programmes and undertake own work in line with these. Proactively monitor outstanding ICT Tech Bar issues ensuring resolution within agreed service level agreements. Factors about the role: Physical: Frequent work in server rooms with specific temperature and humidity controls. Occasional lifting, bending, and installing of IT hardware. Prolonged use of computer screens and attention to details when troubleshooting issues. Adherence to ergonomic principles to prevent strain from prolonged computer use Emotional: Managing critical IT infrastructure that directly impacts patient care and organisational operations. Tight deadlines and handling unexpected system failures or security breaches. Continuously addressing complex technical issues under time constraints. Adapting to rapid technological changes and updates within the healthcare sector. Mental: Frequently addressing technical issues that require detailed analysis and innovative solutions. Keeping up to date with the latest IT technologies, practices, and security protocols. Making critical decisions that affect the infrastructure's performance and security. Monitoring systems and identifying minor discrepancies that could lead to significant issues. Working Conditions: Split between home working, on-site working and visits to server rooms and other IT facilities. Inclusion in on-call rotations and occasional out-of-hours support to maintain 24/7 system availability. Occasional travel between Trust sites to oversee and manage IT infrastructure. Adherence to health and safety regulations, particularly in server rooms and during hardware installations.
