Role Purpose

Reports to the Finance Director and is responsible for monitoring the control environment of the business area and ensuring compliance with Group Accounting policies and Controls Framework.

Responsible for leading finance transformation and integration activities for the Division.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

-Maintain adequate balance sheet controls and oversee periodic balance sheet reviews to ensure the businesses assets and liabilities are correctly stated, highlighting any issues or risks to Finance Director & Group in a timely manner.

-Ensure compliance with all Group Accounting Policies and procedures.

-Making sure reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations.

-Monitoring controls framework and proactive follow-up of remediation actions

-Audit & Group Request: MEJ papers, Balance sheet analytical reviews, provisioning, insurance questionnaire, IFRS16, Upload Working Capital, IFRS15 Contract Assessments.

-External Regulatory Reporting e.g., Cabinet office reporting (analysis & forecasting)

-HFM Reporting: Submissions, validations, promotion, reconciliations to SAP, TM1

-Statutory Accounts & Tax Packs: VAT & Other indirect taxes: Review of return & query resolution

-Intercompany: Reconciliations & elimination process working with group team

-Work closely with other controllers across other business areas to ensure best practice is applied.

-As a Division delivering and receiving services ensure all local legal and financial requirements are in place and followed accordingly. Flag any non-compliance as appropriate to ensure timely resolution, with no interruption to operational delivery.

-Support local and centralised Finance teams in production of the monthly management accounts (P & L, balance sheet, cash flow) within the month end and Group timetables.

-Results Overview: Flash reporting into group; reviewing with business areas. Overseeing the reporting of monthly flash results, half year and year-end reporting.

-Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required.

-Implementing corrective actions for any control weaknesses or recommendations received through audits (internal & external)

-Main point of contact for Shared Services R2R team ensuring activities are completed accurately and on time and monitoring performance.

-Main interface for Group financial reporting requests

-Responsible for ensuring all month-end reporting schedules and deliverables are submitted to Group Finance accurately and on time.

-Lead on Divisional Finance objectives for integration projects activity for any new acquisitions / additions to the Divisional structure (processes/systems/interim processes etc)

-Assist on any core system implementation projects for new acquisition companies, to migrate acquisition companies from legacy to chosen Corporate applications / processes.

-Assist on any core system implementation / upgrade projects for the existing Divisional structure.

-Liaise with IT/Group Transformation/SME teams on any acquisition related projects, to ensure acquisitions are fully embedded into standard Divisional processes, with appropriate controls and governance.

-Help to embed acquisition / transferred businesses into Divisional Finance framework / operating model.

-Help to identify and sponsor any Finance transformation activity within the Division, requiring significant process re-design, improvement initiatives or new process development

About this Role

This is a senior financial appointment and a member of the Divisional senior finance team. At this level will be directly accountable for the financial governance and control of the Division and works with senior managers to ensure that business and operational financial targets are met.

Liaises with group or corporate & statutory bodies & authorities to ensure financial compliance such that all group or corporate & statutory requirements are met.

Strong operational management awareness and high level of integrity with a commitment to embed a strong governance culture, especially in the context of a projects business and the risks inherent in this.

The individual will be qualified - with 5+ years' experience of controls, audit and technical expertise, excellent analytical skills and an ability to understand and solve complex issues. The individual is a good communicator, has excellent stakeholder management skills and be an effective influencer, comfortable working in a matrix environment.
